Job Description

This position is responsible to manage materials copyright, developing policies; plans, and directs editorial activities; and assists staff/customers in selecting and preparing material for publication in magazines, journals, and related publications. Establish production schedules, solve publication problems, Writes routine copy, does layout, designs and produces brochures, newsletters, posters, advertisements and departmental publications. Reads and evaluates material submitted for publication consideration and perform related editorial duties. Ensure compliance to QF communications policies and procedures and legal policies. Also promote publications through various ways. Manage the relation with local, regional and international publications houses, journals and related conferences upon requirement. Detailed Description - Formulates policy; plans, coordinates, and directs editorial activities; and prepare material for publication in magazines, journals, house organs, and related publications (including epublications): Confers with executives, department heads, and staff to formulate policy, coordinate editorial and publications activities, establish production schedules, solve publication problems, and discuss makeup plans and changes. - Determines theme of issue and gathers related material - Writes articles, editorials, reviews, and other material. - Reads and evaluates material submitted for publication consideration and provide advice - Secures graphic material from picture sources and works with graphic designer and photographers to produce pictures and illustrations. - Personally interviews individuals when required and attends gatherings, to obtain items for publication, verify facts, and clarify information. - Conducts research and other editorial duties - Organizes material, plans overall and individual page layouts, and selects type. - Reviews final proofs and approves or makes changes - perform related editorial duties - Prepare news or public relations releases, special brochures, and similar materials. - Prepare, rewrite and edit copy to improve readability, or supervise others who do this work. - Verify facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources - Develop story or content ideas, considering reader or audience appeal - Oversee publication production, including artwork, layout, computer typesetting, and printing, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budget requirements. - Read, evaluate and edit manuscripts or other materials submitted for publication and confer with authors regarding changes in content, style or organization, or publication. - Monitor news-gathering operations to ensure utilization of all news sources, such as press releases, telephone contacts, radio, television, wire services, and other reporters - Arrange for copyright permissions - Read material to determine index items and arrange them alphabetically or topically, indicating page or chapter location. - Support communications and community programs projects - Oversee the production for QNL suite of publications from inception and story development to design and printing, in collaboration with other departments. - Write and edit content for QNL electronic newsletter and products, e.g. Facebook, twitter, in conjunction with the communications plan - Draw up timelines for producing a publication; advise on copy editing and translation; and obtain quotations for design and print to help prepare budgets - Maintain copies of publications in library and archives - Maintain and update guidelines for planning, producing and disseminating publications and resources, incorporating lessons learnt - Write, edit and proof read a range of products and projects - Monitor new trends in publications production and dissemination to support the development of high quality, effective communications - Arrange dissemination of hard copy publications and resources when required - Follow up timeline with editors and contributors. - Keep department informed of publications industry trends and activities. - Lead the effort to make QNL publications available in electronic formats through new platforms. i.e. tablets and mobile devices. - Familiarize, understand and implement QF health, safety, and environment policy, procedures, legal regulations and objectives applicable to areas of responsibility. Ensures coordination with HSE department in implementing, monitoring and reviewing of HSE performance to ensure work under his/her control is performed in a safe, healthy and environmentally sound manner. Additional Info & Requirements

- Master degree in literature, Arabic or English. Or master degree in journalism/communications. - Bachelor degree with major coursework in Journalism, publications management, marketing, communications/media relations. - 5 years relevant working experience in journalism, publications, marketing or communications. - Arabic and English fluent. - Excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate to people from various geographic and economic backgrounds. - Superior writing, editing, and grammatical skills. - Familiarity with publications practices and related tools and software. - Advanced knowledge in MS office required - Ability to multi-task, prioritize, work effectively in fast-paced, deadline ordinated environment. - Ability to organize and present issues in clear, concise and logical manner. - Knowledge and interest in electronic development and distribution of print content. - Detail oriented, highly organized
