Job Description

Seeking a forward thinking and dynamic Library Director for the Red Oak Public Library. It is ideal for an energetic early career librarian with a passion for exceptional library service. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of sound public library management principles, best practices, trends, and current professional theories. Ability to exercise good judgment, along with the ability to communicate effectively and positively with various government and community groups. Ability to lead and inspire staff with creative new ideas for increasing library services while growing the use of and support for library services among the public and strategic partners is most important. This is a highly visible position requiring a dynamic librarian capable of working closely with City of Red Oak officials and the Library Board, and who can lead and inspire a full-service customer-focused organization.

The Community

Red Oak, Texas sits astride Interstate 35E some twenty miles south of Dallas in northern Ellis County. The population is approaching 11,000 and Red Oak is now considered one of the fastest growing and more progressive cities in Ellis County. The library is located in the heart of the community inside the Red Oak Municipal Building. Patrons enjoy a vibrant collection of books, movies, audio books, and magazines along with access to scholarly reference databases through the TexShare Consortium, and downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks through the Northeast Texas Libraries Digital Consortium.
