Job Description
Seeking a forward thinking and dynamic librarian for the adult services department of the Farmers Branch Manske Library. This position is ideal for an energetic personality with a passion for exceptional library service. Under the direct supervision of the Adult Services Supervisor, the Adult Services Librarian will be responsible for providing readers’ advisory, reference services, instruction of patrons in the use of library resources, and collection development. This person will be responsible for the creation and implementation of vibrant, original adult programming specifically crafted toward community needs. The position’s primary responsibilities are to: Assist library patrons in their search for information. Interact with and interview patrons to clarify their needs. Instruct patrons in the use of library resources including the library catalog, print materials, online databases, and other electronic resources. Perform library collection maintenance and development utilizing appropriate reviews and selection tools. Maintain current awareness and knowledge of the library collection including the study of collection content and location of books to maximize retrieval capabilities. Create and implement original programming to meet community needs and the library’s goals and objectives. Perform other duties as assignedThe Community
