Job Description

The Electronic Resources and Information Technology Librarian is a full-time, 12-month, exempt librarian position reporting to the Library Director. The Electronic Resources and Information Technology Librarian is responsible for the oversight of electronic resources, the library website, the Online Patron Access Catalog (OPAC), and software service technologies. Start date is May 1, 2014.

The Electronic Resources and Information Technology Librarian manages the E-resources budget and maintains administration of various online platforms. This position manages the Library’s database and resource integration and access systems. Exploring and implementing new technologies that impact library services will also be a function of the position. The position may also supervise Interlibrary Loan operations. The Electronic Resources and Information Technology Librarian will perform regular librarian duties such as bibliographic instruction, reference, collection development, and be a liaison to academic departments.

Required Qualifications

  • ALA accredited master’s degree in library or information science or equivalent
  • Experience sufficient to perform the responsibilities of the job
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Library instruction experience, especially in a classroom setting
  • Library reference experience

Responsibilities:

Electronic Resources

  • Administer the Library’s electronic resource and database acquisitions
  • Manage and maintain the E-resources budget
  • Maintain administration of various online platforms required for e-resource access and update the Electronic Resource Management spreadsheet for databases (Goldrush)
  • Manage the Library’s database and resource integration and access systems (Discovery, proxy, and OpenURL service)

Web and Technology

  • Administer Library website maintenance and design (CMS and HTML) and associated mobile app
  • Manage the Online Patron Access Catalog (OPAC) within the Integrated Library System (III Millennium)
  • Oversee other software service technologies, such as RefWorks and LibGuide database list and Google Analytics
  • Explore and implement new technologies that impact or improve library services, resources and tools
  • Act as facilitator of Library Web Team

Interlibrary Loan

  • May supervise all operations of the Interlibrary Loan department, including the management and troubleshooting of the software used (i.e. ILLiad and Rapid)
  • May supervise library staff member in the Interlibrary Loan department

Instruction

  • Teach library instruction sessions in composition courses
  • Provide reference services at the reference desk by appointment and online. This may include one evening per week on the reference desk
  • Teach faculty requested bibliographic instruction sessions

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in library governance via the Librarian’s Council and other teams
  • Prepare statistical and managerial reports
  • Participate in collection development for assigned academic department liaison areas
  • Offer bibliographic instruction to liaison academic departments as requested
  • Pursue professional growth and development
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation

$48,000.00 annually, plus full benefits package
