Job Description

Madison Public Library is seeking two teen librarians who will embrace our mission to celebrate ideas, promote creativity, connect people and enrich lives and share our vision of the library as a place to learn, share, and create.

Be a member of a professional team that paves the way for teens to engage and connect, to utilize resources from books to apps, to learn from experts in the local and global community.  Join with collaborative partners in crafting and facilitating community wide, interest-based Out of School Time and set the stage for teens to develop 21st century skills. You will help teens become savvy consumers and creators of content.  You will be an advocate for teens; you'll reach out to all teens.  Our Teen Services Librarians take a whole library, whole community approach to planning, delivering and evaluating services.  This will be your opportunity to explore innovative delivery of services and programs.

These Teen Services Librarian positions function both within the context of a branch library that provides a range of public library services to all ages and as part of a citywide team of teen librarians.  Employees may be assigned to a variety of library programs, services and functions necessitating judgment and discretion in their development and implementation. Employees may lead and/or coordinate subordinates as assigned. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Librarian 3 or Library Supervisor.

The two current vacancies  are salaried at 100% (38.75 hour/week).  One position is based at the MEADOWRIDGE BRANCH, and the other position is based at the SOUTH GOODMAN BRANCH
Scheduled hours of work will be Monday through Sunday, mornings, afternoons and evenings as programming requires.  Work locations may also vary depending on the program needs at the various branches.
