Job Description

We need two innovative and committed leaders and youth advocates for two once-in-a-lifetime opportunities! We have two full-time Youth Department Head openings at our Parker Library (Parker, CO) and our Philip S. Miller Library (Castle Rock, CO). Who are we? • Our district has been rated in the top ten of the Hennen Annual Public Library survey. • Douglas County, one of the nation’s fastest growing areas, has a population of about 267,000. The county has grown by 41.9% since 2000. • Our district has built or renovated at least one library every year for the past 15 years. • Our Parker Library boasts a collection of about 170,000 items and serves a community of over 41,000 residents. About 45.3% of the residents have a college degree. • Our Philip S. Miller Library has a collection of about 183,000 items and serves a community of over 42,000 residents. About 54% of residents have a college degree. Reporting to the Branch Manager, these positions are responsible for hiring, training, and leading the youth department staff. The positions oversee collection development and daily operations. The positions serve as youth advocates within the library system and community.

Additional Info & Requirements

Starting salary is $3995/mo with generous benefits, but could be increased to be commensurate with experience and skills. Experience working with children and/or young adults highly desirable. Candidates must have a passion for excellent patron service, must possess cutting-edge librarianship skills and strong knowledge about current youth services trends and philosophies. Applicants must have emotional intelligence, proven change agent skills, team player and leadership skills. Candidates need knowledge about current library technology trends.
