Job Description

  • Works approximately 18 hours per week at the Reference and East Teen Center public service desks assisting patrons in person and over the telephone. Provides reference services, assists in research, and performs in-depth searches and bibliographic identification
  • Maintains confidentiality in all interactions with patrons
  • Staffs PPLD’s “Ask A Librarian” email reference and PPLD’s IM Reference Service
  • Works closely with PPLD’s Adult Services public trainers, coordinates the adult public computer classes. Is responsible for announcing the quarterly district trainer meetings, setting the agendas and facilitating the meetings. Oversees the class curricula revisions. Implements new classes based on patron demand. Organizes training for the trainers as needed. Teaches 2-3 public computer classes per month. Recruits volunteers to assist with the computer classes.
  • Maintains the online Adult Services Training Manual including staff training reference exercises and questions
  • Teaches staff Finding Info @ Our Library classes for our State and Community Recommended Websites and Telephone Etiquette
  • Represents the library through instructional tours, demonstrations, talks and by participating in transactions
  • Participates in committees or teams as requested
  • Acts as “Person in Charge” on evenings and weekends in the absence if the Adult Services Manager
  • Is comfortable with computers, eReaders, devices and online resources
  • Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned
