Job Description

The Circulation Department provides access to the collections of the University Libraries to the CU Boulder community and public. The Libraries Materials Specialist position retrieves and scans materials for document delivery and assists in updating and shipping physical materials for Interlibrary Loan as well as assists in shelving and Prospector. Department Information:
The Circulation Department provides the University of Colorado Boulder community with access to the collections within Norlin Library through circulation and document delivery related services and to provide access to additional information resources in the state and region through the Prospector consortium. Secondarily, the unit exists to provide access to our collections for non-CU scholars in the state, nation, and world through both circulation services (for state citizens) and interlibrary loan services (for university, public, and special libraries and their patrons world-wide).

Job Responsibilities:
As the Library Materials Specialist this position serves as a lead worker in the Materials Management Unit of the Circulation Department. This position retrieves and scans materials for document delivery and assists in updating and shipping physical materials for Interlibrary Loan as well as assists in shelving and Prospector.
Responsibilities include:
• Retrieving and scanning library materials for document delivery.
• Processing interlibrary loan materials to lend to other libraries.
• Shelving and retrieving materials.
• Processing Prospector materials to lend to other libraries.
• Oversees the work of student employees.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Two years of general library experience including typing, ordering, preparing, shelving, and maintaining library materials.

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & abilities:
• Knowledge of the library of congress call number system.

Desired Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications may be used to further reduce the pool of applicants to those who are most highly qualified.
• Experience within an academic library.
• Prior experience working with or supervising student employees.
• Experience using Sierra, ILLIAD or Prospector.
• Experience with interlibrary loan and document delivery.
