DESCRIPTION:

The Program and Events Coordinator position is a fun position responsible for planning, implementing, promoting, coordinating and evaluating, various District-wide programs and special events: also assists with developing, marketing and delivery of library programming and special events, and assists with the District’s community relations programs, marketing efforts, and outreach projects to increase the appeal, attendance and overall customer satisfaction of library programs and events.

The successful candidate for this part-time position will have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Education or related field, and two years’ experience coordinating/planning events and/or educational programs in a public agency, non-profit or for profit organization (arts, cultural and/or educational organization). Must have the ability to be creative and innovative!

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in planning and coordinating educational programs and special events for small, medium and large audiences, and for diverse age and interest groups are required.
  • Requires creativity and a strong ability to be innovative.
  • Must possess good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once. 
  • Must have the ability to maintain accurate records, collect statistics, track performance measures and prepare reports related to programs and events to include attendance, evaluation, costs, etc.
  • Strong writing skills are required. Experience in producing professional and concise report writing is required.
  • Must possess strong verbal and presentation communication skills.
  • Requires high-level interpersonal and social skills that demonstrate tact, diplomacy and the ability to cooperate with and motive others in a variety of library committee and community group settings.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Experience with appraising the effectiveness of information received and the effectiveness of on-going library publicity campaigns are required.
  • Must have the ability to learn and become proficient in functions and technology required to perform job duties, working effectively independently or as part of a team to complete tasks as assigned.
  • Must communicate effectively using English. Must read, write and understand English at a level appropriate to the position.
