Job Description

What your key responsibilities will be:
Working within the dynamic William M. White Business Library of the University Libraries, this para-professional position will be responsible for:
• Managing the physical collections housed in the William M. White Business Library by processing new materials into the collection, and shifting and withdrawing items from the collection as necessary.
• Supporting circulation and student supervision and payroll in the absence of the branch manager.
• Ensuring adequate and appropriate signage is displayed to promote the library collection.
• Analyzing data and statistics on the library collection to determine what is circulating, what items are no longer circulating, and identifying any gaps within the collection.
• Acting as a reference resource for students, staff, faculty, and public patrons.

Minimum Qualifications

What we require:
Must be a current Colorado resident in order to apply.
Four years of general library experience involving typing, ordering, preparing, shelving, and maintaining library materials, including two years of technical library experience involving cataloging/classifying, providing reference and patron services, and creating/revising procedures.

Substitution:
Two years of course work from an accredited college or university including twelve semester hours of library science course work may substitute for two years of the general library experience.

• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Experience using Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Detail oriented
• Strong critical thinking skills
• Creativity – ability to use creativity for library collection outreach materials

Desired Qualifications

What we’d like you to have:
• Experience with library collection analysis and management
• Experience creating displays and signage
• Experience processing incoming materials
• Prior work experience in a Business Library or an interest in business subjects
• Experience with the Sierra ILS
• Knowledge of the Library of Congress call number system

Preferred qualifications may be used to further reduce the pool of applicants to those who are most highly qualified.
