Job Description

The Arapahoe Library District is looking for a Business Librarian to join our progressive library system. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, who has experience in the functions and resources of small businesses and entrepreneurs, who can successfully provide presentations, networking and information to the business community. Information about this position:
Location: Various Arapahoe Library District locations, as needed.
Reports to: Coordinator/Supervisor Information Experiences

Supervises: 0

Position: Full-time, Exempt

Hiring Range: $39,800 - $49, 770 per year

Role: Increases and sustains local business support and services by providing patrons and businesses with information and assistance.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
40% PATRON ASSISTANCE - Provides patron assistance by conducting advanced patron reference and consultation through in-person or technological methods; assist patrons in the use of library materials, technology, and databases, searching the catalog, stacks, and navigating the Internet; provides reader's advisory services, mentors staff, and recommends resources in order to satisfy patron and business requests of an advanced nature.

30% BUSINESS PROGRAMMING - Develops and conducts business programs by researching, recommending and implementing programs and service initiatives including, but not limited to, business programs and computer training; identifies and interacts with audiences; recruits attendees; and accesses resources in the collection and the community to meet the business community's needs.

30% BUSINESS OUTREACH - Conducts business community outreach by developing and maintaining relationships with community business leaders, chambers of commerce and small business development centers, and coordinates programs and outreach events to enhance the library district's relationship with and services to the business community.

Qualifications:
Two years of similar or related experience, required.

MLS or MLIS degree, required.

Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, required.

Advanced technology skills for Windows, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Outlook, required.

Intermediate skills in Sierra, preferred.

Two years experience in functions and resources of small businesses and entrepreneurs, required.

Ability to provide presentations, networking, and information to the business community, required.

Ability to be mobile 100% of the time and sit as needed; ability to bend, stoop, reach, and push a loaded wheeled book truck weighing up to 100 pounds, 10% of the time, required.

Experience with developing and conducting instructional programs and services.

Ability to focus on the customer, show integrity, be inclusive, enjoy learning and
have fun.

Ability to exercise confidence and excitement in the vast technological and online resources the Library District has available.

Ability to successfully work with varying demographics, required.

Passionate about the mission of public libraries.

Comfortable with the principles of intellectual freedom.

The Community

Established in 1966, the Arapahoe Library District serves more than 200,000 residents living in Arapahoe County. Arapahoe County and other major suburban counties make up the greater metropolitan area surrounding Denver, Colorado. The Arapahoe Library District operates eight branch libraries, including mobile library services, and a library at the County Detention Center, funded by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department. A seven-member Board of Trustees sets the library budget and determines policy.
