Job Description
The Reference Librarian performs professional work related to assisting patrons and maintaining the reference collections. Selects and purchases printed and audio materials. Promotes, coordinates, and leads programs. Maintains collection in designated area of responsibility. Selects and purchases printed and audio materials within allocated budget based on patron feedback and current book reviews. Reviews collection for removals and replacements. Provides reference service and reader’s advisory assistance to patrons. Assesses patrons needs and instructs them in making effective use of Library resources. Oversees the Internet desk. Assists patrons with the use of the Internet. Acts as Librarian in Charge during evening and weekend hours or in the absence of the Library Director or managers. Promotes use of library materials through display, handouts, programs, etc. Maintains supply inventory for work area. Trains and works with volunteers. Performs other duties as assigned and required.
