Job Description
BROAD SCOPE OF POSITION: It is the mission of the Pikes Peak Library District to seek, engage, and transform lives through library services and resources that enrich individual lives and build community. This position operates in a diverse environment to help fulfill the mission of the Library by providing services and programming to promote access and provide instruction for personal growth and research. This position provides day-to-day supervision and oversees programming and resources for the Adult Services department at the Penrose Library.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manages operating procedures and staff schedules for Penrose Adult Services staff
- Provides leadership, guidance, training, direction, and assistance to Adult Services staff District-wide
- Assists in development and execution of long- and short-range plans for Adult Services to meet strategic plan objectives
- Actively promotes and represents the District’s Adult Services through programming and outreach within the community
- Prepares and monitors budgetary expenditures for the Penrose adult services department; reviews workload and staffing
- Conducts employee evaluations and develops goals and strategies for Penrose Adult Services staff development
- Interviews, selects, and develops new staff; participates in terminations as required
- Works on the public service desks providing reference service to walk-ins, over the phone, and via electronic delivery
- Provides excellent customer service, maintains a courteous, positive image of the library, and maintains confidentiality when interacting with patrons and staff
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Additional Info & Requirements
- Requires a minimum of three years of library experience and a minimum of one year of supervisory experience
- Advanced knowledge of library services, best practices and procedures
- Ability to cultivate a team environment that encourages personnel to work across departments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work in a team environment, a “whatever it takes” work ethic, and an excellent customer service attitude
- Bilingual ability is a plus in serving our diverse patrons
