Job Description

Nature of Work: This position exists to manage the daily operations of the University Libraries' Waltz Music Library's circulation desk and listening/viewing center and to provide reference service. It includes supervision of one staff position (LTII) and 20-25 part-time student assistants; planning, coordinating, and developing policies and procedures in conjunction with the faculty director, Music Library staff, and other circulation units; and answering reference questions.

Please read all information-- Minimum Requirements: Four years of general library experience involving typing, ordering, preparing, shelving, and maintaining library materials including two years of technical library experience involving cataloging/classifying, providing reference and patron services, and creating/revising procedures. Substitution: Two years of course work from an accredited college or university including twelve semester hours of library science course work may substitute for two years of the general library experience. Please Note: If education is used to meet the minimum requirements, you must submit a transcript copy by the closing date. Highly Desirable Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a background in classical music, (including the ability to read music,) and a reading knowledge of German, French, Italian or Spanish. Experience in supervision is also highly desirable. Exam Schedule: Applicants will be notified of the time, date, place, and type of examination required.
