Job Description

The Information Literacy and Educational Technology Specialist is a part time, 30 hour a week position.  Qualified candidates have experience with educational technology, libraries and digital learning to assist in all areas of the Duncan Center, Kent Denver’s learning commons. S/he is responsible for contributing to the day to day operation of the Duncan Center, including the information desk, the print and digital book collection, magazines, and research databases.  S/he also should enhance the Duncan Center’s culture of active learning by supporting individuals and classrooms in excellence in their academic work.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duncan Center

  • Maintain the Duncan Center as a learning commons that welcomes students and provides space for quiet study, collaboration, and instruction
  • Provide one-on-one research help and general academic assistance to students in the Duncan Center
  • Stay current on trends and research in school libraries and learning commons

Educational Technology

  • Provide faculty and students with training and ongoing support for using the Learning Management System
  • Collaborate with teachers on planning and implementing projects that integrate technology
  • Provide assistance for individuals and groups on basic technology use
  • Stay current on trends and research in education technology
  • Provide training and support to Kent Denver families about students’ appropriate use of technology

Boettcher Foundation Library

  • Teach students and faculty how to access, evaluate, use, share and create information
  • Collaborate with teachers in planning research projects
  • Develop and manage the library’s print and online collection
  • Create and curate content for a new Duncan Center website
  • Provide recommendations on database, book, and e-book purchasing
  • Collect statistics on database usage and circulation
  • Remain current in Young Adult and Adult literature in order to provide recommendations to students and teachers
  • Help promote a culture of reading among students and staff

Additional Info & Requirements

  • 30 hours per week will be determined along with the library team, but will take place between the hours of 7:30am and 5:30pm, Monday through Thursday, and 7:30am-4:30pm on Friday.  
  • This position will allow for 4 weeks vacation in the summer, with 1 additional week at spring break and winter break.
