Job Description

Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Gordon Library

The Assistant Director for Research and Instruction Services leads all aspects of Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Gordon Library’s instructional and research support services. The position oversees a dynamic team of five professional librarians and serves as an integral part of the Library’s leadership team.

The ideal candidate will possess both a creative vision and a strong commitment to practical innovation in developing research support strategies and information instructional services to align with WPI’s intensive, project-based and global undergraduate curriculum, as well as graduate and professional programs and faculty research endeavors. Experience with strategic planning, assessment, and resource allocation within an academic library or similar environment, information literacy programs design and implementation, staff recruitment and management, and a demonstrated commitment to collaboration are all essential. Engagement with the professional community and a working knowledge of emerging trends in academic librarianship are also a must.

Benefits at WPI are competitive and include free parking in a new garage facility (how many schools can say that?)
