Job Description

The Auraria Library is located on the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver, Colorado and is administered by the University of Colorado Denver. The Library serves 45,000 students from three institutions of higher education on the Auraria Campus – University of Colorado Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and Community College of Denver. The Library welcomes over 900,000 visitors each year. The Auraria Library is undergoing an exciting $25 million renovation to share a truly 21st century research, learning, and collaboration space with our constituents. For more information about the renovation, visit http://libnews.auraria.edu/renovations/phases.

Job Overview

Are you interested in 21st century librarianship? Do you love metadata, relevancy rankings, and the internet? Did you know that Auraria’s catalog is searched over a million times a year from every continent except Antarctica (so far)? If questions like these excite you, then this position is right for you. The Auraria Library seeks a motivated and enquiring MLIS graduate student to join the resource management team in the Technical Services department. This team acquires, licenses, catalogs, provides access to, maintains, and troubleshoots all of the library resources in all formats (print, ejournals, streaming videos, ebooks, etc.). This graduate student position will focus on the team’s access & discovery work and will include tasks such as, maintaining and customizing databases, troubleshooting metadata and linking issues, updating ebook MARC records, verifying URLs, and other duties. As needed, this position will also assist the acquisitions unit. If you don’t know what all these things mean, that’s okay, neither did we when we started. We’re looking for someone who is serious, but not that serious, and most importantly interested in this kind vital, behind the scenes library work.

Compensation: $12.50/hr 10-20 hours per week. Hours are flexible between M-F, 8am-5pm.

Screening Date: Immediately.

Start Date: As soon as practical.

Minimum Qualifications:
