Job Description
This full-time SCBOCES contract position serves the staff and offenders in a Colorado Department of Corrections High Security Management unit library. Providing library services to offenders at the highest level of security is as rewarding as it is challenging. The individual selected to fill this position will participate as much in monitoring, modifying, and shaping patron behavior as in teaching information literacy and library skills. This is truly a life-changing experience for librarian and patron alike. Under the direction of a Regional Librarian, the Library Technician II supervises the daily operation of a busy library providing public/school-type (not law) library service to adult male offenders and DOC personnel. The duties include: provide reference and information services; provide readers' advisory services; hire, train, and supervise offender library assistants; perform library computer functions using the automated library management system (date entry, circulation, catalog maintenance, and printed reports); monitor the behavior of offender patrons.Additional Info & Requirements

21+ years of age. Must successfully complete the Department of Corrections Basic Training Academy. Application process includes a urinalysis and background investigation for clearance to work in a correctional facility. No correctional knowledge or experience is required.
