Job Description

JOIN AN ENTHUSIASTIC AND EXPANDING TEAM AT THE LONE TREE LIBRARY! 

Douglas County Libraries is currently seeking an energetic and highly-motivated Department Head, Patron Services. This position is responsible for assisting the Branch Manager with professional and managerial duties in the operation of the branch, in cooperation with other professional staff. This position serves as person-in-charge of branch in absence of Branch Manager, as well as any other times as needed. The Department Head is responsible for management of the Patron Services department, including the staff schedules, training, coaching and development of staff. Work is performed with considerable independent judgment and initiative.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
• A role model in demonstrating the library district’s “patron first” philosophy, and as a resource person in serving patrons and resolving problems.
• Ability to answer reference questions, and provide professional reference services to patrons.
• Ability to create positive experiences for library patrons by effectively and efficiently performing job tasks; presents a positive image of the library in attitude, communications and appearance while performing duties in both the public and staff areas.
• A skilled individual who will create and maintains statistical records and reports.
• A trainer who will provide advisory services and bibliographic instruction.

ADDITIONALLY, YOU:
• Are an effective and professional communicator.
• Have the ability to learn and teach staff the circulation system functions and procedures.
• Will conduct performance evaluations of public services staff; provide training as needed, and provide regular and steady performance feedback.
