Job Description

Colorado School of Mines invites applications for the position of Research Support Data Specialist within the department of Computing, Communications, and Information Technologies as a member of the Research Support Services team.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), this position will work collaboratively within units across the institution including IT infrastructure, research support, the library, the office of the VP for Research, as well as with faculty and student researchers to ensure data management needs of researchers across the institution are being met. This position will work with IT staff and the library to create an infrastructure that supports the data management lifecycle through both policy and infrastructure. The position will work with faculty researchers to ensure compliance with grant funding agency requirements, including education, training, and assistance in the creation of data management plans.

Required are a Master’s degree in science, information science, or related data-intensive discipline OR Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program; an understanding of the research process as demonstrated by academic or work experience; demonstrated knowledge of issues and technical challenges related to data curation and management and familiarity with one or more current scientific data and metadata conventions.
