Job Description

What your key responsibilities will be:

In this role you’ll promote the Gemmill Library collections and services and provide outreach services to CEAS, Physics, and Math organizations engaged in promoting student success. Correspondingly, you’ll develop a comprehensive evaluation program to measure the effectiveness of Gemmill Library student success programs, as well as develop strategies for the promotion and marketing of these services, ensuring continuous program improvement and increased participation. 

Some of the highlights of this position include:

  • Create a cohesive, user-focused outreach program for the Gemmill Library to enhance student experiences across Engineering and Applied Sciences.
  • Promote library services and collections through library and campus marketing avenues as well as virtual and physical displays.
  • Market Gemmill Library-sponsored events across the university, taking care to target under-represented user groups.
  • Provide research consultations, instruction sessions, and desk backup in the Sciences Department as needed.
  • Develop and implement strategies to integrate Gemmill Library services with other campus support initiatives such as the BOLD Center, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), and CU Science Discovery.
  • Liaise with the Libraries Marketing Manager and staff to align the promotion of Gemmill Library services and activities with library and campus communications initiatives.
  • Conduct an independent analysis of user feedback, synthesizing information about our spaces, services, and outreach so as to directly inform our evidence-based decision-making processes.
  • Set strategy for performance measures and benchmarks to monitor progress toward achievement of library service goals and objectives.

•        Bachelor’s Degree.

•        1 year of experience or education relevant to the work assignment, either in promotion/marketing, space and services assessment/design, or teaching.

•        Excellent written communication skills.

•        Facility with technology.

•        An eye for design.

What we’d like you to have:

•        Relevant experience in libraries and/or a Master's of Library and Information Science.

•        Curiosity about and ease with new technologies.

•        Evidence of innovative, user-focused promotion, marketing, or space design.

•        Undergraduate degree in sciences or engineering.

Preferred qualifications may be used to further reduce the pool of applicants to those who are most highly qualified.

Who we are:

The Gemmill Library of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics supports the teaching and research needs of the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) and the Departments of Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics.

The Library offers a wide array of services to support students, staff and faculty, including in-class instruction and video tutorials, reserves, and phone, email and walk-in research consultations. The staff includes two Libraries Faculty, three Libraries Staff, and several Student Assistants.
