Job Description
The Gilpin County Public Library District is seeking an energetic, collaborative, forward-thinking director with demonstrated leadership skills and professionalism, relevant library experience, excellent communication skills and the vision to take the District to the next level of excellence in serving the community.
The Gilpin County Library Director’s duties include: planning, organizing and directing daily operations; providing leadership and direction to staff; overseeing the management of the library technology and services; maintaining, developing, and promoting library programs for the benefit of the community; managing the budget; working in partnership with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement new policies and programs.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program
- 3 to 5 years of management and administrative experience
- Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screening
- Qualifications:
- Ability to establish, maintain and foster effective and productive working relationships with the library staff, volunteers, Board, county, public and other community agencies
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Grant writing experience preferred
- Salary Range: $53,000 to $65,000; includes full benefits package

The Community
Our Library is centrally located in the scenic, rural community of Gilpin County, less than an hour’s drive from downtown Denver and Boulder. Over 50% of the county is made up of Public Lands that include part of the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Golden Gate Canyon State Park, the largest state park in Colorado. Residents enjoy the vast beauty and recreational opportunities of the Rocky Mountains, a state-of-the art Community Center and Fairgrounds, low taxes and a financially secure local government while still having access to the shopping and cultural activities of urban areas “just down the hill.”
