Job Description
This 40 hour managerial position coordinates, supervises and evaluates all aspects of library programming and outreach services.

What you know:
- Library principles, trends, and services
- Child and adolescent development
- Early literacy principles and initiatives
- Digital literacy
- Reader’s advisory tools and resources
- Collection development resources and practices
- How to organize and prioritize tasks
- Masters of Library Science, preferred
- Spanish language skills, preferred
- Three years of increasingly responsible library experience
- Experience in library programming and/or outreach
What you’ll do:
- Lead a team of librarians and support staff to organize, plan, and implement library –based programs and classes for customers of all ages
- Develop and implement plans for extending library services into the community
- Supervise and evaluate program and outreach staff
- Hire and oversee training of program and outreach librarians, with the support of the customer service manager
- Oversee the supervision of volunteers, with support of the volunteer coordinator
- Manage program budgets and grant funds
- Establish and maintain collaborations beneficial to both the library and the community
- Serve as liaison to schools and community groups that serve children, teens, adults, and families
- Serve on the library leadership team and assist with library innovation, planning, management and governance
- Communicate effectively with customers, staff, library board, and administration
- Plan and arrange workload and establish priorities to complete assigned work within parameters and deadlines assigned by supervisor
- Deliver work product and service with responsiveness, courtesy, and tact
- Participate in the public service desk rotation, as required
- Manage portions of the acquisitions budget as assigned, and monitor collections to ensure they are current, accurate, and relevant
- Keep abreast of current trends in the field through participation in user groups and attendance at conferences, workshops and meetings
- Participate in work committees and teams
