Job Description

Library Manager is responsible for performing the functions of hiring, supervising, and training of local staff; patron service; planning; budgeting; and administrative duties. Work involves overseeing day-to-day operations of the Library and assigned staff and overseeing expenditures of assigned operating budget. The Library Manager reports to the Deputy County Librarian, Marcellus Turner, who would be happy to answer questions about this position, either Library and both communities at mturner@jefferson.lib.co.us

The Community

Nestled in the foothills of Denver, the Golden Library serves as an anchor for the citizens of Golden. As a treasured resource in the community, the Golden Library has a staff of 15 to serve a fast-growing population of over 21,000 that values picturesque, small-town ambience and friendliness coupled with high tech amenities. Located on a walking path by Clear Creek, Golden Library provides reference services for children and adults, access to Jefferson County’s extensive Online Library, a shared collection of approximately 1.2 million items and numerous programs for all ages. Standley Lake Library serves northern Jefferson County from its location in Arvada. With a spacious site in a residential neighborhood, Standley Lake is a favorite library for families and retired people. The City of Arvada is home to excellent elementary, middle, and high schools as well as several charter and private schools with a variety of curricula. The city offers its residents many open spaces and parks with clear views of the nearby Rocky Mountains. The library serves a community of 100,000 with a staff of 23 who provide reference services for children and adults, access to Jefferson County’s extensive Online Library, about 130,000 items on library shelves, houses the Jefferson County Historical Collection, and provide numerous free programs for all ages, including story times for children. The library has two study rooms for small groups and students and a large meeting room available to the community.
