Job Description
Are you a creative, tech-savvy, self-starter looking for an opportunity to use your skills to develop an Early Literacy Center. If you are a visionary leader who would like to become part of our team of educators, then we are interested in talking to you. To build our Children’s Education Center you need the following:
- Programming from pre-school through elementary that integrates technology
- Provide reference and readers’ advisory for children, parents and educators
- Prepares reading lists and reference guides both in print and online
- Maintain children’s website
- Creates displays and promotional material
- Promotes Children’s Center by speaking at schools and community organizations
- Selects material for acquisition and withdraws material
- Knowledge of literature, reading levels, databases and online resources for children
- Trains, schedules and evaluates staff
- Prepares and submits grants
- Prepares monthly statistical and narrative reports
- Maintains appearance of Children’s Center
Banning is a city of approximately 30,000 located 30 miles west of Palm Springs and 80 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
Requirements
ALA Accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science. Both new graduates and experienced children’s librarians are encouraged to apply.
This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $60,000 to $65,000. Banning Library offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical and dental insurance, retirement plan, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.
Hours include some evenings and weekends.
