Job Description
The University Libraries at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley seeks a detail-oriented and adaptable Administrative Specialist to serve as the primary administrative support to the Dean and staff in the Dean’s office. The incumbent in this position will: manage all office operations for the University Libraries Dean/Administration Office; serve as a resource person to both library personnel and outside groups in interpreting Libraries policy and procedures; coordinate communication and create publicity for use by on-campus and off-campus offices and organizations; and participate in the administrative staff decision-making process.
The incumbent also manages the Libraries travel program, provides administrative support for faculty searches, supervises the student employees in the Libraries Dean/Administration Office, and works with appropriate personnel to solve facilities problems, in all cases, ensuring policy, procedure, and budget compliance. Additionally, the incumbent serves on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the UNC Libraries, and coordinates and corresponds with all Friends members regarding meetings, programs, membership, and newsletters; serves as the Libraries liaison for the Mari Michener Gallery; and organizes and coordinates exhibits, events, and projects for the Libraries.
The successful individual must have the ability to work in an open office environment and to manage multiple priorities. Demonstrably excellent interpersonal, organizational, decision making, and problem solving skills are required to effectively serve as a representative of the Dean of University Libraries.
Additional Info & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates Degree (A.S. A.A.)
- Three years’ work experience applicable to the position
- Experience with office productivity software e.g. word-processing, spreadsheets

- Excellent written communication skills
- Supervisory experience
- Experience resolving complex and multifaceted problems
- Experience in event planning/coordination
- Work experience in a higher education setting
- An earned bachelor’s degree
