Job Description

SCOPE OF POSITION: The Technical Services department of Estes Park Public Library has an exciting opportunity for a full-time (30 hours per week) Technology Specialist. This position, which reports to the Technical Services Supervisor, supports Library staff as they use a variety of information technology tools to serve our patrons. Essential responsibilities will be to provide direct patron service, perform routine maintenance for Library PCs, and complete IT projects. Will also maintain the Library’s public Computer Commons and provide staff and public training and support. The ideal candidate must have a passion for public library service and must be able to communicate effectively with staff and patrons. Ease of use with a variety of computer software applications is required, as well as routine knowledge of PC hardware, its diagnosis and repair. Applicant will also show the following attributes or demonstrate the ability to acquire them: knowledge or familiarity with library circulation systems and with public-access computing systems. Applicant must be an effective project collaborator and demonstrate a strong customer service ethic. A minimum of two years of college with emphasis in technical computing or certificate program is desired. Some evenings and weekend work will be required. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES: • Provide excellent customer service: 20 hours/week • Maintain and update website • Coordinate and teach classes in response to staff and community needs • Prioritize and manage IT projects • Maintain all library computing • Link technology to library services: order, install, maintain, and replace public and staff use equipment • Pursue relevant training and educational opportunities • Develop and maintain hardware and software inventory • Maintain equipment replacement calendar • Participate in revisions of Technology Plan • Participate in operational and long range planning • Communicate with supervisor and staff about improvements and enhancements to current technology • Be familiar with the Integrated Library System and participate in information system activities and upgrades • Collaborate with all Technical Services team members • Collaborate with director and staff in Adult, Youth, and Circulation departments • Attend staff meetings • Attend relevant interdepartmental and committee meetings • Respond to staff requests for equipment maintenance and repair
