The Community
Fergus Falls is a flourishing community of just over 13,000 citizens located where the lakes meet the plains. Natural surroundings are mostly pine, birch, and hardwood trees which border lakes and gently rolling farmland. Just to the west is the Red River Valley featuring flat plains that allow miles of unbroken horizon-to-horizon sight lines. Hunting, fishing, swimming, and skiing are popular recreational activities, but the area is also known for its well-developed arts community, with the Fergus Falls Center for the Arts and the New York Mills Cultural Center as two examples. There are both two-year and four-year college and university campuses located within the region, offering further arts and educational opportunities.
