Fort Vancouver Regional Library District (FVRL) is seeking qualified applicants who are enthusiastic about children’s materials for a full-time (40 hours per week) Senior Collection Development Librarian opening at our District Headquarters in Vancouver, Washington.
This Senior Collection Development Librarian is part of a small team of librarians who are responsible for the management of the FVRL District collection working under the supervision of the Collection Manager. This opening will focus on the selection, de-selection (weeding) and distribution of juvenile materials for our 13 libraries, three Library Express locations and two bookmobiles spread out across more than 4,200 square miles. The successful candidate will use statistical data and professional resources to monitor the needs of library patrons and to stay apprised of trends in children’s material. They will then work within a budget to maintain a collection in a manner that reflects both the needs of branches and the district as a whole.
The ideal candidate would have strong analytical and interpersonal skills and be comfortable working in an environment supporting FVRL’s internal customers. This position requires a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program or ability to obtain a Washington State certificate upon hire, 3-5 years of relevant experience and 1-3 years of supervisory experience. As mentioned previously, this position will not work at one of our branches, but will be at our district office, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The compensation for this position begins at $48,090 annually with an excellent benefits package including health insurance benefits, life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment, short term and long term disability benefits, Washington State PERS retirement and paid time off.
Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience, including customer service experience.
One to three years of supervisory experience or lead worker experience.
