Job Description

Are you passionate about libraries? The Arapahoe Library District is looking for a full-time, Manager of Web Systems to join our progressive library system. Please read the complete job description, and if these are experiences and qualifications you have, we want to hear from you!

Role: Administers the Integrated Library System database, public website, online public access catalog, and other support and subscription based software to ensure their continuous operation and usability. Supervises the Integrated Library System/Website and Technology Specialist teams.

Reports to: Director of Digital Services & Library Material Services

Supervises: 6

Position: 40 hours, full-time, exempt position

Salary Range: $ 80-85,000 annually

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

25% PROJECT MANAGEMENT Sets goals for district project(s), establishes implementation team (s) and timelines for completion, and collaborates effectively with department managers to achieve desired outputs and outcomes for the organization.

20% DATABASE, WEBSITE, AND SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES ADMINISTRATION - Administers the Library database system by installing new releases and upgrades, troubleshooting system problems, and maintains a recovery strategy in order to provide an efficient database for the public and staff. Administers the public website by integrating the library database system with multiple subscription services through coordinating the communication of the website with the library database system, maintaining digital security, troubleshooting system problems, and maintaining the layout of the site in order to provide the public with a functional and user-friendly website. Unifies multiple software systems in a complex environment that requires constant debugging in order to ensure system compatibility.

20% STAFF SUPERVISION Supervises the ILS/Web and Technology Specialist teams by setting performance objectives, organizing resources and making implementation decisions, coaching and providing feedback, managing conflict and appraising performance in order to optimize the performance of department staff.

5% BUDGET PLANNING - Develops and manages the software budget of $500,000 and 30+ vendors.

5% SOCIAL MEDIA - Develops a comprehensive customer-centric strategy for social media that includes an understanding of both technical and organizational requirements. Advises on how to integrate social channels into projects and initiatives.

5% BETA TECHNOLOGY AND CREATIVE SPACES'Develop, maintain, and expand our offerings and services to provide interesting, cutting edge technology for demonstration, circulation, and use in our creative spaces.

Qualifications:

Five to ten years of similar or related experience, required.

Two years of supervisory experience, required.

Bachelors Degree, required.

Understanding of relational databases and administration of their permissions, roles, and functionality.

Methodology for researching, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills.

Advanced technology skills, including Integrated Library Systems, Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Suite.

Intermediate knowledge of content management systems.

Intermediate knowledge of user experience, information architecture trends, and search engine optimization.

Intermediate knowledge of project management.

Intermediate knowledge of the system's side of social media, including how each channel's algorithms work, SEO, reach and engagement.

Intermediate knowledge of Google Analytics and other analytic programs.

Intermediate knowledge of APIs and their potential to create patron-driven functionality between different services.

Intermediate knowledge of cataloging, acquisitions, and MARC.

Basic knowledge of the operating systems Linux and Windows Server, including Hyper-V, and of web servers, including IIS and Apache.

Ability to manage effective vendor relationships.

Management aptitude, including management education and experience; leadership skills; responsibility for outcomes; personal productivity; practical thinking; adaptability; coaching; interpersonal skills; and business ethics.

Ability to develop, manage and administer budget.

Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patrons and employees.

Ability to travel between facilities and work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, required.

Ability to be mobile 100% of the time and sit as needed; ability to bend, stoop, reach, and push a loaded wheeled book truck weighing up to 100 pounds, 10% of the time, required.

Ability to focus on the customer, show integrity, be inclusive, enjoy learning and have fun.

Ability to successfully work with varying demographics, required.

The Arapahoe Library District operates eight branch libraries, including mobile library services, and a library at the County Detention Center, funded by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department.
