Job Description

Jefferson County Public Library is looking for an experienced Web Content Coordinator.  We are excited about the future of the user experience in public libraries and we are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and hardworking new team member to join our Digital Experience team.  If you are also detail-oriented, collaborative and want to make a difference, this may be the job for you!

The person in this position oversees content production on Library websites and assures quality and accuracy of content through the development of a content editorial and maintenance plan.  They will participate in the development of web content standards and the overall strategic plan for the Library web presence.  They will also communicate web content standards to content providers and instruct providers on best practices.  The Web Content Coordinator will develop and maintain proficiency in web content tools and advise and support staff who use the tools. They will follow trends in user-centered design and content strategy, incorporating new methods and tools to increase the impact of the Library's web content and overall presence in the community. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Contribute to an ongoing, iterative design process by analyzing user data, detecting and studying changes in user behavior.
  • Evaluate new and existing web content, fulfilling the function of "editor-in-chief" for the Library's digital experience.
  • Edit content to conform with the Library's web content standards/best practices.
  • Analyze trends, usage statistics, and survey data to determine areas for future content development.
  • Collaborate with content providers to address emerging needs.
  • Develop tutorials and process documentation.
  • Maintain an editorial calendar and content plan.
  • Develop organizational standards and best practices for web content authoring, aligning with brand and customer service standards.
  • Follow trends in user-centered design and content strategy and incorporate new methods and tools to increase the impact of the Library's web content.
  • Staff in this position must comply with laws governing patron privacy and confidentiality under CRS24-90-119 and the Code of Ethics of the American Library Association; as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) governing public access to space and technology.

Additional Info & Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in editing or content management required.
  • Background in libraries, government or non-profits highly desired.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of HTML preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CSS preferred.
  • Advanced writing skills required.
  • Experience employing user-centered design techniques to develop and evaluate experiences on the web.
