Job Description

Jefferson County Public Library has an exciting opportunity in our Communications Department. We are looking for a self-starter wanting to work in the area of Graphic Design. This entry-level part-time Graphic Design position will assist the Graphic Design Manager in maintaining JCPL standards in the layout and production of artwork including program materials, signage, collateral, etc.  This position reports to the Graphics Design and Production Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  •  Responsible for consistent implementation of design standards within brand guidelines as specified by the Graphic Design Manager.
  •  Responsible for layout and production of print and web publications and other promotional materials.
  •  Responsible for managing numerous projects and presenting strong organizational and communication skills to coworkers.
  •  Responsible for accurate, timely, and efficient job production within the group.
  •  Responsible for preparing projects for digital output, or final production, following all specifications from the vendors or the specific output devices.
  •  Responsible for operating a hydraulic cutter, programmable folder, laminator, large format printer and laser printers.

Additional Info & Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud design programs, Microsoft Office and Windows 10 required.   
  • Solid knowledge of design principles and elements such as balance, typography, color, and paper required.
  • Good knowledge of the printing process required.
  • Solid proofing skills required.
  • Good communications skills and ability to interact well with clients and customers required.
  • Positive attitude and ability to build cohesiveness within the design group.
  • Demonstrated design sensibility.
  • Ability to organize and complete many different tasks and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to give and take direction in a constructive way.
  • Ability to interpret design specifications with accuracy and attention to detail.
