Job Description
The employee in this position performs mid-level professional duties providing reference service and readers guidance for customers. Reviews materials for collection development in YA fiction, YA paperback, YA graphic novel, and Junior fiction . Responsible for teen program planning, promotion, and implementation. This person acts in the absence of and reports to the Youth Services Librarian III. The individual responds in person or by phone to customer requests for reference materials, information and readers guidance; explains the library computer system, equipment and technology to customers; uses computer system/PAC to locate materials; communicates use of reference materials/Internet to customers; successfully conducts and completes a reference interview; places or deletes reserves, updates library computer customer information, renews materials, in-person and by phone.Additional Info & Requirements
Master's in Library Science may be substituted for work experience requirement. Experience working in a school or public library working with children or youth; educational background in children’s literature; planning and presenting public programs for youth are desired.HR Info
