Job Description
Develops and implements youth services, meeting the reading and informational needs of patrons ages 0-18. Coordinates all aspects of youth and young adult services, including programming, collection development, public relations, readers’ advisory, reference service, policy implementation, and training. Recruits, hires, trains and evaluates all staff supervised (Youth Services Specialist - 32 hrs/wk, Young Adult Specialist – 18 hrs/wk, Young Adult Assistant – 5 hrs/wk, and Stories @ the Parks seasonal summer employees). Trains and supervises department volunteers. Prepares and tracks budgets and statistics. Delegates as necessary. Consults with other managers and staff. Serves on the in-charge rotation and attends managers’ meetings. Liaison to daycares, preschools, schools and community groups.
