Are you looking for an opportunity to help public libraries of all sizes maximize their innovative and technological resources while working with a team dedicated to improving library services across Utah? If so, the Utah State Library with the Department of Heritage & Arts is looking for you to fill its Library Consultant for Innovation/Librarian III opening. The Utah State Library is seeking a Library Consultant for Innovation to help share best practices and innovative ideas with the greater library community to provide better quality services to the citizens of Utah. Traveling to libraries within Utah is required about 20% of the time. 

Principle Duties
The Library Consultant for Innovation will foster technological innovations in Utah's libraries by:

  • Managing the statewide database consortium (Utah's Online Library).
  • Assessing infrastructure and technology needs for public libraries.
  • Providing training and consulting to help maximize technical resources to enhance users' experiences at the library.
  • Working closely with public libraries to assess and evaluate databases to ensure they reflect the needs of users in Utah.
  • Consulting with libraries concerning their digital spaces, technology projects, and infrastructure needs. 
  • Coordinating with the library consulting team and other Utah State Library staff to provide a support team for public library services.

The Ideal Candidate
The best person for this position is someone who has:

  • A Masters degree  in Library Sciences or a closely related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Preference may be given to those with experience and knowledge with online resources along with experience with hardware and software used in a library setting.
