Job Description

Do you like the outdoors? Do you enjoy all four seasons? Do you enjoy working with librarians in small and rural libraries as well as larger more suburban ones? This position will give you the opportunity to enjoy all of the above as well as the opportunity to have a lasting impact on the North Dakota Library Community. 

The North Dakota State Library is seeking a service-oriented innovative professional librarian to fill the position of Library Development Specialist. This position is a member of the Library Development team and requires planning, public services, technical and training skills. If you enjoy some traveling and working with a wide variety of people, consider applying for our Library Development Specialist position.

Additional Info & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess an ALA accredited MLIS and have one year of professional library experience. Drivers license required as travel utilizing a state car is required.


Preferred Qualifications:

Two or more years professional library experience. Ability to communicate effectively with others, including communicating professional information to non-professional personnel. Ability to provide professional consultation with regard to program operations, professional services and staff development within public libraries. Work closely with other Library Development Specialists and State Library staff as part of a team. Skill in use of personal computers and basic software applications in the areas of library science and general office work.
