Job Description

This full-time position exists to develop, promote , and deliver information literacy instruction primarily at the Littleton campus location with occasional travel to the Parker and Castle Rock campus locations. This position will also be the evening reference librarian providing reference assistance to students, faculty, and staff via a variety of formats including in-person, over the phone, and online. Recent graduates, including those plannting to graduate in December 2017, from an ALA accredited library school are encouraged to apply.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
30% Reference Services:
Provide excellent library reference services requiring skills in oral and written communications and professional interactions with a wide range of constituencies from a diverse community.

25% Information Literacy Instruction:
Provide individual, classroom, and online instruction in information literacy to students, faculty, and staff across disciplines. Flexibility and adaptability are required to meet the needs of a wide range of subject specific classes and patron abilities.

15% Digital Reference Support:
Maintain and promote information literacy materials on the Library 's website via research guides using Springshare's
LibGuides platform. This person will also create video tutorials with Camtasia and provide online reference help via the AskAcademic portal while serving at the reference desk requiring the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

10% Evening Closing Responsibilities:
The evening librarian is required to oversee closing procedure s with student assistants requiring the ability to make decisions, follow procedures, and, when necessary, diffuse situations with tact and diplomacy.

10% Collection Development:
Connect with liaison department chairs, faculty, and adjunct instructors to ensure the print and digital collections meet the needs of the department.

10% Reserve Collection:
Process materials being placed in the reserve collection and maintain the collection using best practices.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
This position will be responsible for performing other duties as requested or assigned by the Director of the Library & Learning Commons. Special projects are often assigned in addition to daily responsibilities.

Operating Budget: This position will have no independent budget.

WORKING RELATION SHIPS:
This position reports to the Director of the Library & Learning Commons and works extensively with other librarians, faculty, and student workers.

MAJOR CHALLENGES:
The challenges of the posi tion are finding meaningful ways to promote and assess information literacy in light of clearly articulated learning outcomes.

DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has the responsibility to develop well-defined information literacy outcomes and to advise the Director of the Library & Learning Commons on the most effective use of human and financial resources to achieve those outcomes.

Arapahoe Community College was founded in 1965 in Littleton, Colorado. Presently we serve over 10,000 students per semester in our credit programs and over 6,500 students per year in our non-credit programs. We offer nearly 100 degree and certificate programs. Arapahoe Community College has campuses located in Littleton, Parker and Castle Rock, Colorado.
