Job Description
The project team for the Semyon Fridlyand Archive that is currently housed at the University of Denver Myhren Gallery seeks professional catalogers who have experience working with images, a basic knowledge of photography, and knowledge in Soviet history/culture. The catalogers will revise and contribute to basic metatdata records for 13,000+ digital images. The Archive contains the photographic work of Soviet photojournalist, Semyon Fridlyand, and is currently being digitized. Required Education: Master's Degree in Library and Information Science Professional Cataloging Experience: 2+ years preferred Library/Visual Resources Experience: 2+ years preferred Other Qualifications: Demonstrated cataloging abilities; experience with database systems; understanding of digital libraries or digital image collections; experience with VRA Core and CCO and/or MODS is preferred; knowledge of Russian language is a plus, but not a requirement; excellent communication skills; ability to work independently. This position requires a high speed Internet connection and the candidate(s) must be able to work from home. The cataloger(s) will work as an independent vendor performing services for the Semyon Fridlyand Archive at the University of Denver. We anticipate this work to be full-time for 5-6 months.
