Job Description

This full-time SCBOCES contract position serves the staff and offenders in the medium-security Limon Correctional Facility (LCF) library. The individual selected to fill this position will have an outstanding opportunity to make a difference as a librarian and impact patrons' lives. 96% of the offenders use the LCF library. Under the direction of a Library Technician III, this position supervises the daily operations of a busy library providing public/school-type (not law) library service to adult male offenders and DOC personnel. Duties include: providing reference and information services; providing readers' advisory services; hiring, training, and supervising offender library assistants; performing library computer functions using the automated library management system (date entry, circulation, catalog maintenance, and printed reports); monitoring the behavior of offender patrons.

Special consideration will be given to applicants with the following qualifications: strong service orientation; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; flexibility; and strong computer skills in a Windows environment and with MS Office Professional.

HR Info

21+ years of age. Must successfully complete the Department of Corrections Basic Training Academy. Application process includes a urinalysis and background investigation for clearance to work in a correctional facility. No correctional experience is required.
