Job Description

Your application must provide a detailed description of your knowledge, skills and abilities and/or work experience in relation to the following duties. This full-time position provides acquisitions services and support to the Library Services Department at CSU-Pueblo. Works with the Collection Development Librarian to ensure the smooth operation of the Acquisitions Department. Sorts library mail to insure proper distribution to individuals and departments. Prepares monographs and theses for binding. Processes gift items for inclusion in the library's collection. Orders and processes learning materials for library collections. Checks materials received for accuracy and processes invoices for payment on AIS. Supervises and trains library student employees to guarantee the work of the unit is completed correctly and in a timely manner. Supervises library student employees some nights and weekends in the circulation department. Keeps daily records and makes monthly and year end statistical reports to inform the library administration of the status of learning material budget expenditures and encumbrances. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

NOTE: The regular schedule for this position will be 8a.m. to 5p.m., Monday – Friday. In addition, this position rotates with four other staff members to cover Saturdays. Occasional evening shifts may be required. You must be willing to accept these hours in order to be considered for this position. Hours are subject to change. SALARY INFORMATION: New hire employees are typically hired at the minimum of the monthly salary range listed above. Exceptions to this are rare and subject to budget constraints. If the successful candidate is currently a state employee for transfer or promotion, his/her current salary will be taken into consideration.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of general library experience including typing, ordering, preparing, shelving and maintaining library materials. Requires knowledge of library classification systems and filing procedures. (Part-time experience will be prorated.) SUBSTITUTION: Two years of course work from an accredited college or university including twelve semester hours of library science course work may substitute for the general library experience (YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS WITH YOUR APPLICATION IF YOU ARE APPLYING USING THIS SUBSTITUTION). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Please provide a detailed description of your work experience and qualifications that describe how you meet the following: Experience in the following areas: 1. Basic bookkeeping. 2. Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel. 3. Working with an automated ILS (integrated library system). 4. Working with the acquisitions module of an ILS. 5. Ordering and processing learning materials for inclusion in a library’s collection. 6. Working in a position that required excellent organizational skills. 7. Working in a position that required excellent communication skills. 8. Working in a position that required excellent attention to detail. 9. Working in a team environment that requires a variety of new tasks or change in workflow with the ability to work positively with other staff to complete tasks. 10. Working in a position that required excellent customer service skills.
