The Ira J. Taylor Library announces an immediate opening for a part-time library assistant (16 hours/week, Monday-Thursday). The library assistant provides administrative support for Taylor Library under the direction of the Library Director, and assists with acquisitions and other library areas under the supervision of the Library Director and other members of the library staff. In addition to general secretarial support for the Library, specific areas of responsibility include processing purchase orders, overseeing publicity (including updates for the Library website), ordering books and other library materials as directed, searching bibliographic resources and databases, managing book donations, providing backup to other Library staff positions, and working on special projects under the direction of the Library Director. Good computer skills (including Word and Excel), demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with others, and high attention to detail are expected. Coursework in library science and/or vocational experience in libraries is desired. Full position description is available on request.
