Job Description

The Rangeview Library District in Northglenn, CO, is seeking an innovative Librarian Generalist who is passionate about connecting people with literature and information. We are looking for a versatile, creative, customer-focused Librarian at our Northglenn Library Branch. Come be part of the team that redefines “Rangeview Library Customer Services” and opens a new 25,000 square foot branch in the fall 2009 . Examples of responsibilities include: • Schedule, plan, publicize and present programs and activities, both on and off-site; schedule and conduct library tours • Assist in the development, evaluation and maintenance of Adult collections by examining book reviews, user needs and other information. • Recommend Adult materials for purchase/replacement. • Maintain designated area of book collection by weeding and discarding, reordering as necessary, and updating materials. • Identify patron information needs; provide reference referral information and readers’ advisory services to all ages, both in person and on the phone; assist and/or instruct patrons in locating and using library resources, equipment, and services. • Work at Reference desk and Circulation desk to assist patrons. • Assist and instruct patrons in the use of computer software programs and Internet. • Create displays; compile bibliographies and reading lists. • Provide on-the-job training to personnel and volunteers as needed.

HR Info

The ideal candidate has excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, a Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school, and experience working in a library setting, and is an individual who is passionate about creating an outstanding library system. Minimum qualifications: MLS from an ALA-accredited Library School and some experience in working in a library. Desired qualifications: Two years of library experience.
