Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Responsible for generating new grant leads and applying for new and existing grants. Responsible for writing proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue, restricted projects, and submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grant funded projects. Communicating with programming, collection development staff and administration to determine highest funding needs. Ensure grant proposals to further the Basalt Regional Library’s mission and strategic plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources
  • Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants
  • Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors
  • Understanding of institutional history and programs
  • As appropriate, attends planning and implementation meetings for grant-funded projects

Perform any other related duties as required or assigned

ADDITIONAL TASKS AND DUTIES
Performs a variety of patron contact duties including:

  • Actively assisting patrons with finding library materials
  • Using the catalog
  • Handling all circulation duties
  • Shelving library materials

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 2 years’experience in grant writing 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A collaborative approach
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills 
  • Must be able to learn library operating systems, online catalog, and Internet searching
  • Must be able to provide efficient and courteous patron service towards a diverse patron population
  • Must have the ability to learn and become proficient in skills, functions and technologies required to perform job duties

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
