Job Description
Colorado Academy is seeking a part-time library assistant for the 2019-2020 school year. This position in the Raether Library works with the Middle School and Upper School Librarians to serve the Middle School and Upper School communities. In addition, this position is in charge of Raether Library during after school hours, which includes supervising students and ensuring their safety.
Reports to the Director of Libraries with day-to-day supervision by the Middle School and Upper School Librarians.

2019-2020 school year
Official start date Tuesday, August 27, 2019
Monday-Thursday, 1:45pm - 5:45pm
Duties:
- Engage students and teachers in a welcoming and friendly library environment
- Manage the library circulation desk and assist students and teachers with book selection and check out
- Provide clerical support to librarians by shelving returned materials and processing new books
- Create visually appealing rotating monthly book displays
- Supervise the Raether Library building during after school hours, including upstairs
- Straighten book shelves and furniture and restock supplies each evening to prepare for a smooth opening the following day
- Other clerical and administrative tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience working in a library
- A demonstrated interest in working with students and promoting young adult literature
- Use of Integrated Library System (ILS) and experience with database searching
- Ability for frequent movements: stand, walk, crouch, twist, reach
- Ability to push up to 50lbs and lift up to 25lbs
- Bachelor’s degree is a plus
