Job Description

Requisition Number: 19-00108 Salary Range: $42,782 - $54,765 Closing Date: Monday, July 8, 2019; 8:30 a.m. POSITION PURPOSE The City of Westminster Public Library is seeking a technologically savvy, customer service oriented Library Associate. The Library Associate position is responsible for a variety of paraprofessional library work including providing exceptional customer service, reading recommendations, programming, and technology assistance in both the Information and Children's areas. We are currently looking to fill one full-time position, and multiple substitute positions. The full time Public Services Associate will be at our Irving Street Library, and the substitute Public Services Associates will be at both the Irving Street Library and the College Hill Library. The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate. The City of Westminster offers a bonus of up to $1,000 per year depending on the employee's fluency in Spanish, Hmong, and/or Laotian. CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and Certifications Required: • Must be at least 18 years of age • Graduation from high school or GED • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university (completed by 12/2019) • Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing customer service to adults, young adults, and/or children and families Preferred: • College degree • Two (2) years of general library experience working with adults, young adults, or teens in a public library • Experience in readers advisory, or reference • Spanish Fluency Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
