Job Description

This Patron Services Associate Temporary position will be scheduled August 7th to May 27th. This position is not benefit eligible. The schedule for this position is regularly 12 hours per week. Days and hours worked may vary and may include days, evenings and weekends.

Hiring Range: $19.80/hr - $23.28/hr

Salary Range: $19.80/hr - $26.75/hr 

General Duties:

Greet and welcome the public. Provide customer assistance in person or on the phone. Interview patrons and determine information needs; assist patrons in the use of library catalog, digital resources; answer basic reference questions using print and electronic resources; recommend books and other library materials; meeting room inquiries, and keep statistics. Respond to and resolve routine customer needs that may include location of materials; information regarding library services or programs; interpretation of library policy; instruction in the use of the library catalog, Internet computers & accompanying software and other equipment such as computers, mobile devices, software, printers, scanners, copiers, and audio-visual equipment. Set-up equipment including sound system, multimedia projector, laptop configuration, for meetings or events. Refer patrons to other staff as appropriate. Maintain confidentiality of all patron data and information.

Assist in maintaining the library areas to include straightening, picking up materials, organizing, re-shelving, or shelf reading. Take proper safety precautions, anticipate unsafe circumstances, and act accordingly to prevent accidents. Use all required safety equipment. Perform related duties as assigned.

Public Services:

Assist patrons with technical questions concerning the use of computers and accompanying software, digital resources, reading devices including ebook readers and other mobile devices. Provide reference and reader's advisory service. Coordinate programs or services as assigned including scheduling, registration, publicity, preparations, reservations, distribution of program materials, room set-up and clean-up, audience supervision, tracking statistics, etc. Create displays, reading lists, and promotional materials using Google docs or equivalent. Basic navigation of and troubleshooting for other electronic resources. Basic knowledge of popular materials and authors. Work as a team with Public Service and Programming staff.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: - 
New hires must, as a condition of employment pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: oral board, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender registry, and fingerprint checks through CBI/FBI.
