Job Description

50% Develop and implement bookmobile services by identifying, understanding, and relating service to community needs. Deliver service to bookmobile customers by safetly driving outreach motor vehicles to specified locations, providing reference and reader’s advisory, processing patron transactions, building relationships, and recommending materials for purchase in order to promote and provide bookmobile services. 25% Develop and implement outreach service by identifying, understanding, and relating service to community needs. Deliver service to diverse populations by recommending and implementing outreach programs and services in order to serve the needs of targeted populations. 25% Mentor paraprofessional staff and develop volunteer staff by scheduling, training and guiding them in bookmobile and other outreach services with direction from the Outreach Services Supervisor/Coordinator, in order to provide outstanding and personalized library service to our internal and external customers.

Other Requirements: Ability to work independently without close supervision. Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends. Valid Colorado Driver’s License. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stretch, kneel, and reach 75% of the time worked. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, unassisted. Ability to push a loaded, wheeled book cart weighing up to 100 pounds. Abiliity to work in environment of small spaces, fluctuating temperatures and odors. Preferences: 2-5 Years experience. Ability to relate and provide library service to unique and diverse populations.

The Community

Established in 1966, the Arapahoe Library District serves more than 200,000 residents living in Arapahoe County. Arapahoe County and other major suburban counties make up the greater metropolitan area surrounding Denver, Colorado. The Arapahoe Library District operates eight branch libraries, an Outreach Service that provides mobile library services, and a library at the County Detention Center, funded by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department. A seven-member Board of Trustees sets the library budget and determines policy.
