Job Description

The Kelley Library Board of Trustees, of Salem NH, is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, community oriented leader with proven management and supervisory skills to manage and direct the operations of its library. The Library Director’s vision for the future should incorporate a thorough understanding of emerging technologies as well as a deep understanding of library principles, practices, issues and trends.  The Library Director reports to the Board of Trustees and is responsible for overall operations of the library including but not limited to the development and monitoring of the annual operating budget, overseeing personnel, facility management, and administering programs and services.  The Director will attend monthly Trustee meetings and other local government meetings during the budget process. The Director will build partnerships with local groups and organizations in order to foster relationships that will benefit the library and community. The director will support library staff to reach their professional goals. The Director will engage in a process of continuous reflection and improvement of library services through a customer centric lens. Kelley Library is a member of GMILCS library consortium and the Library Director will participate in the boards and committees within that organization.

The ideal candidate will hold an MLS or MLIS from an accredited school and will have 10 years of diverse and progressively more responsible supervisory experience in public libraries.
