Madera County is currently recruiting for an innovative and forward-thinking leader to serve as Library Director. With a budget in FY 2019-2020 of $1.74 million, the Madera County Library System provides the public with valuable informational, cultural, and recreational resources through five branch locations. Reporting directly to the CAO and appointed by the Board of Supervisors, the Library Director plans, directs, manages, and oversees the functions, operations, and programs of the Madera County Library System; performs professional library work; and does related work as required. The Library Director supervises a professional County Library System comprised of 17 full-time staff and occasional part-time staff, with 4 direct reports. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to perform community outreach and expand the Library System user base and provide departmental and organizational leadership consistent with the high standards of Madera County. This position requires a Master’s degree in Library Services and 7 years of progressively responsible professional library experience, including 3 years of management experience. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are considered a plus. The annual salary range for the position is $113,646 to $138,138. Additionally, the County offers a benefits package, including CalPERS.
