Job Description

We have an exciting FT (40 hrs/wk) opening for a Youth Librarian at the Philip S. Miller Library in Castle Rock. The position will provide reference assistance and readers advisory to children, teens, young adults and parents using the library collection, databases and Internet sites. Plans and implements programming for children, teens, young adults and parents. Performs collection development and collection management at the branch. Serves as library liaison to Douglas County Schools, preschools, home schooling families, charter schools and other organizations that serve youth.

Starting salary is $3094/per mo. with generous benefits available. Salary could be increased to be commensurate with experience/skills. Applicants must have professional and current working knowledge of children, teen and young adult literature. Must have experience working with children, teens and young adults. A good understanding of current research in literacy is required. Also must understand children, teens and young adults learning styles, as well as child and adolescent development and parenting. Must have expertise in Internet searching and in providing reference assistance. This position requires some evenings and weekend work.
